Did an interview with Dallas Morning News investigative reporter Brooks Egerton yesterday, assisting the Dallas mom who is fighting to get physical custody of her three young daughters after her ex-husband forced their eight and nine-year-olds to watch XXX porn with him a while back.
CPS in Lubbock and Dallas almost blew this case, too, just as they have done recently with many other cases, which Brooks has been writing about.
We’re starting to campaign to get this stupid Texas law changed that allows a parent, guardian or spouse to display porn to their children. We recently met with TX Attorney General Greg Abbott and TX State Senator Bob Deuell who will help us change that law.
We became involved in this when the mom requested help on Craigslist and one of our network of survivors forwarded the request to us. She couldn’t seem to get help from anyone, including CPS.
So far, she’s regained temporary custody, and expects to win permanent physical custody next year in court.
CPS in Lubbock almost threw this case out, plus communcations problems between a Dallas Police detective and CPS at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center almost caused her to lose CPS support.

Can you believe that leaving a 1-year-old unsupervised all day does not create an immediate risk of serious harm, according to Texas child welfare authorities?
How ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But that’s what CPS spokesman Chris Van Deusen said in an e-mail yesterday responding to a Dallas Morning News investigation into why CPS allowed Arlington mother Keashia Dyon Matthews to keep her children even though her 6, 5 and 1 year-old children were living at her home unsupervised during the day while she worked.
Now that little one-year-old child is dead, after his neglectful mother left little Darrell “Tre” Singleton III in the hot car while she was at work Sept. 30. CPS claimed they closed the case against her in June when she reportedly put the children in day care. Of course, she probably did that for a month and then left them at home again.
Read this awful story about CPS’s decision(s) and the mother below:
CPS says it saw no major risk in May when it investigated Arlington mother
We have to raise a stink about this, but so many people and groups have already tried to and achieved so little.
CPS case workers and supervisors are extremely difficult to reach, they often don’t return phone calls or faxes and frequently will not divulge important information even to parents who need to know.

There’s a nice article in this morning’s Dallas Morning News about how an alert CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) caseworker in Ellis County brought in Bikers Against Child Abuse to help a 13-year-old child abuse victim. The happy ending is that the boy has now been adopted by a loving family in Denton Co. His new father rides a cycle and is a member of Peacekeepers.
