Karla Giraldo anxious to be reunited with man who assaulted her, Sen. Hiram Monserrate

NY Daily News reporter Juan Gonzalez reports that domestic assault victim Karla Giraldo already wants her man back – NY State Sen. Hiram Monserrate.

“I love him. We love each other and we want to be together again,” the 30-year-old Giraldo said in an exclusive interview.

“I want to go back to the simple things we did as a couple before all this happened – decorating his apartment, going out shopping, or just sitting at home together.”

Sounds like a great case of denial to me. Read the whole story and you’ll see how willing she is to overlook his assault.

Many domestic violence victim advocates like to say that abuse is never the fault of the victim. Maybe the first time it’s not, but if the victim returns I think the second…and third…and fourth…and fifth ones might be her fault.
